Last Sunday I went to the Fulani church with the Dickens. Most of the people in
Nalgeriu and the surrounding areas are
mamprusi, the Fulani's are a people group kinda of like the , they are cattle herders that kind of roam around and just follow there cattle, most of them are Muslim but there is a group in
Nalerigu that is Christin you can read more about them here
http://www.africaguide.com/culture/tribes/fulani.htm. The Dickens like there church because it is smaller than some of the others and does not go quite as long ( some of the other Church's can go for 3 or 4 hours which is really hard with the little girls). The church was old and very small, it reminded me of the church in the Little House on the Prairie movies. I took some pics of it for everyone. It is very hard to get something out of church because the message is preached in a different language and then translated to
english and most of the songs are sung in a different language also but it is neat getting to see how different cultures do thing differently.

Cross in the front of the church.

Looking out one of the widows you can see the hymnal in the window and looking outside there is okra growing. ( There is no A/C so windows is the only way to get air)

The Church.

The Dickens and I.
You mean you aren't speaking...or singing in Ghanain yet?
ReplyDeleteWow, that is pretty cool, er maybe hot, but it is neat.
